About

So you want to know something about me?

My name is Ian Bushfield and I’m originally from Balzac, Alberta, Canada.

Go ahead, laugh, I’ve already heard it.

I took an undergraduate education in Engineering Physics from the University of Alberta, which I completed in 2009. It’s sort of the bastard child of honours physics and electrical engineering.

As with the majority of EngPhys graduates, I opted not to work in the real world (although some would argue the choice is already made for you), and instead I entered graduate studies in Physics at Simon Fraser University. I’m lucky though that I get to live in beautiful Kitsilano in Vancouver, BC.

I get to see boats when I wake up in the morning, no big deal.

While I was at the U of A I founded the University of Alberta Atheists and Agnostics after meeting some other local freethinkers at an Edmonton Atheist meetup group. I’ve kept active in the freethought movement, and am currently the Vice-President External for the Freethought Association of Canada. I am also the treasurer and defacto webmaster of the SFU Skeptics.

I’m active in a bunch of other groups in town, including:

This website is more of a collection of my personal notes and projects, including Cafe Humanism.  If you want to here my rants on politics, religion, atheism, and anything else, check out my other blog Terahertz.

If you want to spam me, don’t, but if you want to get a hold of me for anything else, try the following:
