I have presented to many audiences, young and old, on everything from Big Bang Cosmology to spontaneous propulsion to dying with dignity. I believe that an effective presentation must be tailored to the audience, should aim for Zen, and that when it comes to slides, less is more.
I have received Science with Impact training, emphasizing multifaceted approaches to learning, am a Dying With Dignity Canada Ambassador, and have received several awards for my presentations in university.
The various audiences I have presented to include:
- Children from kindergarten to grade 12 in Edmonton, Fort McMurray, and Yellowknife
- Metis students in Kikino, Alberta
- University undergraduate and graduate students
- Humanists, atheists, and skeptics
- Unitarian congregations
- Interfaith groups
I am listed on the Secular Student Alliance Speakers Bureau and am able to speak across North America on various topics including:
- Humanism, community, and interfaith
- What is Humanism?
- Dying with Dignity: The debate over assisted suicide and euthanasia
- 14 Billion Years in 90 Seconds: How to present the evidence for the Big Bang in an elevator speech
- Empirical politics – the need for science-based decision making
- Science education and outreach
